AUGUSTA, Ga. – Georgia College Baseball (5-0, 1-0 PBC) stayed perfect on the young season with a complete team game Saturday, shutting out Augusta University (0-4, 0-1 PBC) 9-0 on the road.

The Bobcats move to 5-0 on the season, and are one of five undefeated teams in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC). The last time the Bobcats started the season 5-0 was 2002, when GC picked up wins in their first 15 ballgames.

Senior Kyle King (Johns Creek) buzzed through the Jaguar hitters, surrendering just four hits and three walks over six shutout innings. King (2-0) had a pair of 1-2-3 innings. Junior lefty Bryce Bowen (Elberton) threw the final three hitless for his first save. He fanned five and allowed three walks.

The Bobcats jumped in front with four runs in the first, the initial tally coming off the second home run of the season for second baseman Cal Gentry (Perry). Paul Grazzini (Marietta) singled home another run, and Noah Mendlinger (Alpharetta) drove in the final two of the inning with his own single.

Things then got quiet and stayed that way until the ninth, where GC piled on five insurance runs.

First baseman KC Brown (Rincon) singled home a pair, and Austin Holloway (Social Circle) added an RBI single in the inning.

Mendlinger finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Centerfielder Cam Hill (Marietta) had a 3-for-4 day with a run and two steals. Grazzini was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs. Gentry had two hits with two runs and an RBI, while Holloway also tallied two hits and an RBI. Brown finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs.

The Bobcats pick up a victory in their Peach Belt Conference (PBC) opener for the third straight season.

GC Baseball finishes the three-game set with the Jaguars with a doubleheader tomorrow, Feb. 9 at 10 a.m.
