Box Score 2 YOUNG HARRIS, Ga.- The Georgia College Softball Team (4-12) lost their two opening games at the Young Harris Tournament against Emmanuel College (9-7) Saturday, falling 5-1 and 5-2 to the Lions.
The Bobcats dropped the first game after getting held to just three hits. Freshman Lauren Sommerer (Loganville) drove in the lone run for the Bobcats on a ground out to the shortstop in the fourth.
The Bobcats cycled through three pitchers in tonight's first loss to the Lions. The best of the bunch was Ally Black (Norris City, Illinois) setting Emmanuel down in order in the sixth. Starter Rebecca Lawrence (Vidalia) took the loss (1-3), despite giving up just a single earned run over 2 1/3 innings.
The second game of the doubleheader went to Emmanuel as well, outscoring GC 5-2. After the Lions got the game's first two runs in the fourth, the Bobcats cut the lead in half. The first run for GC came in on a sacrifice fly by freshman Hannah Patridge (Watkinsville) to score Sommerer, who walked. Fellow freshman Ashley Schell (Cumming) smacked a pinch-hit single in the fifth, coming in on a single by senior Amber Coy (Warner Robins).
Black (0-1) took the loss in this one, giving up two runs in 3 1/3 innings of work.
The Bobcats are back in action at the Young Harris Tournament tomorrow, March 8 at 10 a.m. in doubleheader action with the Shaw University Bears.
