Bobcats Upset Augusta on the Road, 3-2

AUGUSTA, Ga.- The Georgia College Volleyball Team (8-13, 3-3 PBC) took down the defending Peach Belt Conference champions Augusta University (13-5, 3-2 PBC) in five sets on the road.

The match was back and forth as Augusta took sets one and three. The first set went to the Jaguars 25-17. GC had a total of nine kills to Augusta's 18. 

The second set belonged to the Bobcats in a 10 point margin at 25-15. GC had 13 kills and a match-high .312 hitting percentage. The Bobcats outhit the Jaguars by seven kills and a .210 hitting percentage.

The Jaguars narrowly took the third set 25-23. Both squads tied in the kill department at 14 apiece. GC had the upper hand on hitting percentage, ending the set at .214. 

The fourth set went to the Bobcats 27-25 to force set number five. GC put up 16 kills with a .227 hitting percentage. 

The fifth and final set went to GC as they won 15-12 to take down the Jaguars. The Bobcats recorded eight kills in the final set for the win. 

The kill leader on the match for GC was Sarah Stewart (Savannah). Not only did Stewart record a double-double she broke the single-match record with 29 kills. The previous holder of the number one slot was Taylor Svehla who recorded 27 against Barton in February of 2018. Stewart 15 digs and three blocks on defense.

Ally Hall (Cumming) recorded a double-double as she had 17 kills and 26 digs. In addition to her 17 kills she had the highest kill percentage of the squad tonight at .311. Hall led the team in digs with libero Bella Desalvo (Hamilton, Ohio) coming in right behind her with 25. Desalvo led the serving charge tonight recording four service aces against the Jaguars. 

Setter Lauren Talele (Woodstock) had a fantastic night setting as she recorded 51 assists on the night to help hoist her squad over the Jaguars. Talele had yet another double-double to add to her resume along with 13 digs. 

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Oct. 16 at Flagler with the first serve set for 3 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at GCBobcats.com.
