Box Score MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- The Georgia College Soccer Team (8-5, 3-4 PBC) took a tough 3-0 Peach Belt Conference (PBC) loss to Clayton State University (4-6-1, 4-3 PBC) Wednesday night at Bobcat Field.
Clayton State took the lead in the first half scoring in the 19th minute. Isabel Massa delivered an arching cross from deep on the right sideline to Julie Hasenecz just outside of the 18-yard box for the first goal. This was the lone goal of the half as the Lakers were up 1-0 going into halftime.
Clayton State scored two more goals in the second half with the first one coming in the 47th minute. There was a foul on GC which resulted in a free-kick just past midfield for the Lakers. The free-kick was entered in the box, with a few players getting touches on it. Hasenecz took a shot that was blocked, then Reia Henry finished it off for the 2-0 lead.
The final goal came on a penalty kick in the 58th minute, Massa made good on the attempt to give CSU the 3-0 win.
The Bobcats took a total of 23 shots on the night with 11 of them on goal. Alexis Bergamini (West Suffield, Connecticut) had the most shots on goal with three. Alyssa Bergamini (West Suffield, Connecticut), Cassie Balzano (Douglasville) and Brooke Adams (Kennesaw) had two shots on goal apiece.
Goalkeeper Kate Richardson (Marietta) picked up the loss for the match having a total of two saves.
