Bobcat Soccer Falls to #20 Flagler on the Road, 3-0

Box Score

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.- The Georgia College Soccer Team (8-8, 3-6 PBC) took the 3-0 road loss at nationally-ranked No. 20 Flagler College (12-2, 7-2 PBC), Saturday afternoon.

The Saints struck first, scoring in the initial two minutes of the game off the head of Brin Wexler. Andrea Fernandez and Liz Hall both picked up an assist on the goal as they made the cross from the opposite post for the header.

The second goal of the match was also for Flagler as it came in the 27th minute from Fernandez. Moa Arlebo recorded the assist by passing the ball to the corner of the 18 yard box to set up the goal to put the Saints up 2-0.

The final goal of the match came in the final minute of the first half also off the foot of Fernandez. The ball got loose in the 18 yard box and she was able to capitalize and score for the 3-0 lead.

The match went into halftime with Flagler up 3-0 over the Bobcats. The second yielded zero goals for either team.

Alexis Bergamini (West Suffield, Connecticut) continued to attack opposing defenses as she led the team with three shots and two of which were on goal. Bergamini is able to create spacing between herself and the opposing defenders which allows for her to get shots off.

Cassie Balzano (Douglasville, Georgia) had three shots on the afternoon to tie Bergamini with only one shot on goal. Balzano is consistently double covered by defenders but is still able to get shots off to put pressure on the opposing goalkeeper.

Goalkeeper Kate Richardson (Marietta, Georgia) had seven saves against the Saints after facing 16 shots launched at her. Richardson is nearing the 200 save mark in her career.

The next step for the Bobcats is the 2021 Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament. Seeding will be determined later in the week as well as game times. The tournament is set to start Saturday as the top four seeds will host first round matches. Check out GCBobcats.com for game time and location.
