YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Playing their second match in as many days, the Georgia College Volleyball squad (7-13, 2-3 PBC) picked up a Peach Belt Conference (PBC) road win Friday, beating Young Harris College (3-13, 0-4 PBC) in four sets.
The Bobcats took the first set with a 25-15 score, then YHC evened things up with a 25-23 win in the second. Set three was a 25-17 win for the Bobcats, who then closed things out with a dominant 25-12 finish. In the final two sets, GC stepped up its hitting game, tallying just a pair of errors in each set and hitting well over .300 as a team.
Freshman Ally Hall (Cumming) powered the offense with a 12-kill effort, hitting a blistering .367. Graduate student Sarah Stewart (Savannah) added 11 kills to the match. Both players had double-doubles, Stewart with 12 digs and Hall with 11. Stewart also tallied four blocks and a pair of aces, finishing with 15 points for the match.
Senior Lauren Talele (Woodstock) ran a strong offense, picking up 36 assists and 11 digs for her second-straight double-double. The Bobcats hit .252 as a team, their best effort in nine matches, dating back to Sept. 18 against the University of West Alabama.
Four players had double-digit digs, led by Stewart and sophomore Bella DeSalvo (Hamilton, Ohio) with 12 each. Hall and Talele recorded 11 each.
In the match, Talele passed the 1,500-assist mark, just the second player in school history to do so. She also picked up her 757th dig, tying her for sixth in school history with Ebony Powers (2017). Up next is Ella Anastasiades (2015) with 776.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m., traveling to Augusta University.
