Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Georgia College Softball Team (0-4) lost a tough non-conference doubleheader battle to Anderson University (9-1) at the Peeler Complex, 5-1 and 12-8.

The first duel with the Trojans resulted in a 5-1 loss for the Bobcats. GC was able to take the early lead in the bottom of the first on a Samantha Vinson (Jefferson) double to score Sadie Waters (Cumming), who reached on a double of her own. Vinson went on to add another double in the game coming in the fourth inning. Bobcats had a total of four doubles in game one with the final one coming from Haley Howell (Rochelle) in the sixth.

GC cycled through two pitchers to complete the first game of the double header. The two pitchers only gave up three earned runs in the 5-1 loss, as the Trojans took advantage of a costly error in the fifth.

Vinson finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a pair of doubles.

The second matchup of the day resulted in a Bobcat 12-8 loss. Down big late after a seven-run fifth, GC tried to rally with two in the sixth and two more in the seventh but could inch no closer.

The Bobcats had two home runs come in game two. Junior Katelyn Hobbs (Thomasville) took the ball deep over the left-center fence, plating two runs in the second, at the time giving the Bobcats a 3-0 advantage. The home run was the first hit of the freshman's career.

The next round-tripper came from Carlie Behan (Cumming) in the sixth inning. Behan drilled the ball to nearly the same spot, also driving in two runs in the sixth. The home run was Behan's first in her career.

GC used three pitchers in game two of the doubleheader. The pitching squad gave up 11 earned runs in the 12-8 loss. Howell finished game two 2-for-3, driving in a run and adding her second double of the day.

The Bobcats are back in action Sunday, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Peeler Complex, hosting Catawba College in doubleheader fashion. There is limited seating available and live stats as well as the live stream is available at GCBobcats.com
