Box Score 2 TIGERVILLE, S.C.- The Georgia College Softball Team (0-6) took a pair of road losses to North Greenville University (10-4) Saturday.
The first game of the doubleheader yielded a 6-0 loss for the Bobcats. Freshman Sadie Waters (Cumming, Georgia) had the only extra base hit for the Bobcats with a double. This knock was a right center gapper.
In the first contest the GC staff used two pitchers. The starter was sophomore MacKenzie Michels (Lilburn, Georgia). Michels took the first game loss with one strikeout and three earned runs through her two innings of work. Sophomore Ally Black (Norris City, Illinois) came in for a four-inning relief effort for GC. Black had two strikeouts and only gave up one earned run.
The second matchup of the doubleheader resulted in a 13-2 six inning loss for the Bobcats. Senior Haley Howell (Rochelle) had the lone extra base hit in this one, doubling to right, scoring freshman Lauren Sommerer (Loganville). Howell's double brings her career total to 33, tying the senior for seventh in school history.
The GC bullpen got their work in today cycling through three pitchers in game two. Freshman Golden Thrower (Hannahan) was the starter for the contest, receiving the loss. Black finished the game, making her second appearance of the day, going for two innings and earning one strikeout while only allowing one earned run.
The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow, Feb. 28 at the Peeler Complex, taking on Catawba College in doubleheader fashion at 2 p.m. There will be limited seating and masks are required. Live stats and live feed are available at GCBobcats.com.
