GC Softball Drops Two at West Georgia, 10-0 and 4-2

CARROLLTON, Ga.- The Georgia College Softball team (4-10) took two losses in non-conference action at the University of West Georgia (11-3). 

Game one of the doubleheader for GC brought a very limited offensive performance, as the Bobcats were held to one hit. The lone hit from game one came from sophomore Sadie Waters (Cumming) with a single to start the fifth. Waters also had two stolen bases on the day with one more coming from Ashley Schell (Cumming). Schell got on base in the first game via a hit by pitch. 

The game one pitching duties for the Bobcats were split between three pitchers. MacKenzie Michels (Lilburn) got the start and the loss (2-3) for GC, throwing three innings and allowing three runs. 

In game two of the doubleheader the Bobcats had more offense, plating two runs. Katelyn Hobbs (Thomasville) had the best performance of the day, going 2-for-3. 

Down 3-0 heading into the sixth, the Bobcats got a run on a wild pitch, and then scored the second on Hobbs' second hit, a single up the middle to score Samantha Vinson (Jefferson). She reached on a double, GC's lone extra-base hit of the day. 

The pitching duties for game two were handled by the freshman Golden Thrower (Hanahan, South Carolina). Thrower (0-5) claimed three strikeouts in her six innings of work, only allowing two earned runs on nine hits. 

The Georgia College Softball Team is back in action Saturday, March 13 at 1 p.m. at Augusta University, the first Peach Belt Conference contest of the season. Live stats and video links will be available on GCBobcats.com.
