GC Volleyball Falls to PBC-Leader Flagler in a Four Set Battle

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- The Georgia College Volleyball Team (2-2, 2-2 PBC) took a four set loss Tuesday from Peach Belt Conference (PBC) leader Flagler College (5-2, 4-0 PBC) in the Centennial Center.

The first set of the home contest went to the Saints with GC losing 25-17. During the first set the Bobcats had 12 kills with a hitting percentage of .130. The second set of the match went to GC, by a 25-21 score. The Bobcats had a match-high of 14 kills with a hitting percentage of .151. 

The third set went back in Flagler's favor as they outscored GC 25-14. The fourth and final set belonged to the Saints who outscored the Bobcats by three points at 25-22. The Bobcats had their second highest number of kills with 13 and a .109 kill percentage in the fourth set. 

"We all knew tonight's match was going to be tough physically and mentally," said Gretchen Krumdiek. "I thought we did a great job in the back with our defense and serve-receive. All of our pieces are coming together and we are looking forward to this weekend's matches."

Sophomore Sarah Stewart (Savannah) had the most kills today for the Bobcats at 16. Stewart added 18 digs to her name for a double-double.

The junior Emily Sweatman (Fayetteville) had the second-most kills in her four sets of work at 10. She added two solo blocks and finished with 12.5 points.

Fresh off her 1,000th career kill in the win at Lander Saturday, senior Libby Bochniak (Marietta) tallied seven tonight to give her 1,012 in her career. She stands second in school history.  

Junior Lauren Talele (Woodstock) led the team with 34 assists. She also added eight digs and two block assists to her scorecard. 

The defensive leader of the match up was Bochniak with 22 digs to her credit. Joining her in double-digit digs was classmate Jordyn Moellering (Cumming) and Stewart at 18 apiece. 

The Bobcats are back in action Friday, March 19 to take on UNC Pembroke at 6 p.m. in the Centennial Center. Live stats and a live broadcast of the game will be available at GCBobcats.com.
