Box Score

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- Backs against the wall down 2-0, the Georgia College Volleyball (3-3, 3-3 PBC) got redemption against UNC Pembroke (3-2, 3-2 PBC) Friday night in the Centennial Center.

The first two sets went to UNCP in close margins, each separated by just two points. The first UNCP won, 25-23, and the second set was a back-and-forth battle with the Braves winning in extra points 29-27.

The Bobcats made a thrilling three-set comeback to take the victory, starting with a dominant set three 25-17. The fourth set GC won 25-19, giving the Bobcats all of the momentum going into the fifth to get the 15-10 win.

"Tonight's win was a great one for our team," said head coach Gretchen Krumdieck. "Our grit and outside hitters came through for us tonight. Our block and back-row defense was a big key to our win."

The Bobcats had two 20 kill attackers in the at home victory. This marks the first time since GC took a five-set win over North Greenville University Sept. 11, 2015. Taylor Svehla had 21 and current Bobcat assistant coach Caroline [Long] Attaway added 20 in that matchup.

In tonight's action, it was senior Libby Bochniak (Marietta) and sophomore Sarah Stewart (Savannah). Bochniak had 22 kills and 19 digs with 23 points on the night. Stewart had 20 kills and 15 digs with 22 points.

The Bobcats had a total of 60 assists on the night with junior Lauren Talele (Woodstock) tallying 52.

The defensive side for GC was led by senior Jordyn Moellering (Cumming). Moellering had 26 digs to lead a quartet in double-digits. Talele and Bochniak had 19 each, while Stewart and freshman Bella DeSalvo (Hamilton, Ohio) pulled up 15 apiece.

The Bobcats were busy up front tonight with 12 blocks as a team. Junior Sarah Mangan (Farmingville, New York) led with seven, while senior Emma Boughner (Bogart) chipped in five to go with 10 kills. Boughner's five blocks give the senior 304 in her career, the second Bobcat to reach 300, joining Svehla.
