Box Score 2 YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Georgia College Baseball team (11-8, 10-7 PBC) lost both ends of a doubleheader at Young Harris College (13-7, 12-5 PBC) Friday, 5-3 and 13-3.
The Bobcats got in front on a Cassius Young (Atlanta) single in the first, but YHC responded with single runs in the second through fifth innings to take over. Freshman first baseman Brandon Bellflower (Milledgeville) ripped his first career home run, a solo shot to right in the ninth, but the rally stalled there.
Sophomore Josh Hudgins (Dunwoody) took the loss (3-2) despite six solid innings, allowing four runs and fanning five.
Leftfielder Jay Saunders (Moultrie) had two hits in four trips, while centerfielder Cam Hill (Marietta) did the same, scoring a run. Catcher Austin Holloway (Social Circle) added a 2-for-3 effort.
In game two the Mountain Lions unloaded the offense, starting with a four-run first. GC pulled within one, plating three runs in the third. Hill brought in the first score with a single, and designated hitter Matt White (Lakeland) provided two more with a double down the leftfield line.
Young Harris answered right back however, scoring four in the fourth, a run in the sixth and four more in the seventh for the run-rule victory.
Lefty Bryce Bowen (Bowman) took the loss in game two, falling to 1-2 in three innings of work. Sophomore reliever Ashton Sturgell (Evans) was sharp, allowing just one earned run and fanning five over his three frames.
