Box Score MORROW, Ga. — The Georgia College Soccer team (3-6) competed against Peach Belt Conference (PBC) opponent Clayton State University (3-3) Thursday, a first-half goal holding up for a 1-0 Bobcat victory.
The lone goal of the match was scored by sophomore Summer Ligon (Carrollton), with an assist by Sophia Bonser (Tyrone). In the 12th minute, Bonser sent a pass from the left sideline to the middle of the field. Ligon gathered, slipped a defender to the right, and fired to the upper left corner from 30-yards out.
The goal accounted for Bonser's second career assist, and the first goal of Ligon's career.
The Bobcat's led the game with a total of 18 shots, out-pacing the Lakers 18-13.
Defensively, the Bobcats held strong throughout the match. Sophomore keeper Kate Richardson (Marietta) recorded her fifth career shutout, making four saves.
Richardson's moves into a tie for fifth in career shutouts in Georgia College Women's Soccer history, joining Kristen Moore (2008) and Jessica Catapano (2016).
The Bobcats are back in action Monday, April 5 at 4 p.m., hosting Georgia Southwestern State University at Bobcat Field on Senior Day.
