GC Volleyball Falls to Augusta at Home in Regular-Season Finale

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- The Georgia College Volleyball team (6-7, 6-7 PBC) closed the regular season with a three-set loss to Augusta University (11-2 9-2 PBC) Friday night at the Centennial Center.

Each of the three sets were all within five points but they all went to the Jaguars. The first set was the largest point margin at five. The second set also went to the Jaguars with the Bobcats closing the score gap only taking the three point loss. This set yielded the most kills for GC at 17. The last set was a heartbreaker for GC as they had the lead for most of the set, but a late Augusta surge handed the Bobcats a 25-23 loss. 

"Tonight's match was a close one and I really thought it could have gone either way," said head coach Gretchen Krumdieck. "I am so proud of our team and the way we played tonight. I love this team and I wouldn't trade any of them. We are all so grateful to have the opportunity to play during the roller coaster of a year we have all been in."

The kills leader for the match was senior Libby Bochniak (Marietta) with seven. Bochniak also had 10 digs on the night. She finishes her career as the first member of the 1,000-kill and 1,000-dig club in GC Volleyball history. Her 1,108 career kills finish second and her 1,278 digs finish fourth in school history.

Lauren Talele (Woodstock) had a strong performance as always posting 26 assists with 10 digs. 

The dig leader on the night was the senior Jordyn Moellering (Cumming) with 18. She finishes her career the all-time leader in digs at GC with 1,622, good for 10th in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) history.

Senior Emma Boughner (Bogart) added six kills and five total blocks to the cause today. She wraps up her four seasons at Georgia College with 333 career blocks, ranking No. 2 in school history.
