Box Score 2 MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- The Georgia College Softball team (5-19, 1-9 PBC) took to losses from UNC Pembroke (15-7, 3-1 PBC) Friday at the Peeler Complex, 11-2 and 4-2.
The first game resulted in a five inning run-rule loss, 11-2. The Bobcats had a total of three hits in game one with two of those hits coming from sophomore Lauren Sommerer (Loganville). She finished 2-for-3 with a pair of singles. Freshman MacKenzie Hoffman (Rocky Face) drove in both runs on a sacrifice fly in the fifth.
The junior MacKenzie Michels (Lilburn) got the game one start and loss for GC. Michels fanned two batters and allowed three earned runs on six hits in her 2.2 innings pitched, falling to 3-7.
The second game was a much better defensive effort for the Bobcats as the junior Michels also got the game two start, bringing her record to 3-8. The lefty allowed just three earned runs on seven hits in 5.1 innings of work.
The offense for game two was similar to game one as GC scored two runs. The first run came from a sacrifice fly from Haley Howell (Rochelle) scoring Sommerer who reached on a fielder's choice. The second run came late in the game from an infield single from Sydney Newberry (Springfield) to plate Katelyn Hobbs (Thomasville).
Hobbs finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and a double.
The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, April 7 at 4 p.m., traveling to Shorter University.
