Box Score FLORENCE, S.C.- The Georgia College Volleyball Team (6-6, 6-6 PBC) took a four-set victory on the road from Francis Marion University (3-7, 3-7 PBC) Friday.
The first set of the road match went to the Patriots at 25-18. FMU had 15 kills to the Bobcats 11 which was a match-low for GC. The Bobcats swept FMU from there, 25-23, 25-22 and 25-18. The second set brought match-highs for the Bobcats with 16 kills, four serving aces and four blocks.
"Tonight was a great win for us," said Coach Gretchen Krumdieck. "It's always tough to get off the bus and play so we had a slower start. I think we did a great job of adjusting our block and our hitters all had a great night. We are definitely looking forward to this week of practice and playing at home this weekend."
GC had four players who had double-digit kills. Sarah Mangan (Farmingville, New York) led the GC offense with 13, also guarding the net with two block assists. Libby Bochniak (Marietta, Georgia) had 11 kills on the night to go with 10 digs to give the senior another double-double.
Sarah Stewart (Savannah, Georgia) had 10 kills on the night. With those kills tonight Stewart totals 363 in her career, taking the 10th spot in school history. This spot was previously held by Rachel Reynolds (2013). Stewart also had 20 digs on the night to give her a double-double as well.
Freshman Callie Miller (Acworth, Georgia) also had 10 kills. The rookie has played well against Francis Marion, having two double-digit kill matches in her young career, both coming against the Patriots.
Setter Lauren Talele (Woodstock, Georgia) always makes sure her Bobcats score as she recorded 42 assists in four sets. Talele also had 10 digs on the night to give the junior a double-double as well.
Jordyn Moellering (Cumming, Georgia) kept the ball off the floor, recording 22 digs on the night.
