GC outshot GSW 12 shots to none with eight on goal. The Bobcats also dominated time of possession applying pressure to the Hurricanes defense throughout the match.
The match went into halftime tied 1-0 in favor of GC which ultimately resulted in the final score.
The Bobcat defense kept the Georgia Southwestern offense on its toes by eliminating the gaps. Taylor Salvaggio (Bethlehem), Ryann Smith (Sharpsburg), Sydney Charles (Baton Rouge, Louisiana), and Katelyn Smith (Augusta) held the Hurricanes to no shots on the match, keeping goalkeeper Kate Richardson (Marietta) safe. The center backs, Salvaggio and Charles, closed up the middle to prevent the turn and shot towards the goal. The left-back Katelyn and the right-back Ryann kept the outside forwards from getting pass off.
The last time the Bobcat defense held a team to zero shots was against Albany State University in September of 2018.
Richardson picked up the shutout in Saturday's win giving her seven in her career. The shutout moves her into the fourth overall slot in program history surpassing former Bobcat goalkeeper Annie Stephens at six.
The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Sept. 29 at Bobcat Field to take on Albany State. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. with the live stats and video available at GCBobcats.com.
