MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 24 Georgia College Men's Basketball team (12-3, 4-2 PBC) started slow and couldn't fully recover, dropping an 88-73 contest to the University of North Georgia (11-4, 4-2 PBC) 88-73 Saturday at the Centennial Center. The loss is the first for GC at home this year.

The slow start spotted UNG an 11-3 lead after three minutes of play, a lead that would stay until the 6:56 mark. Every time GC got some room, the Nighthawks would have the answer, however as the Bobcats never led by more than a single point at any mark in the game.

Junior Wesley Simpson (DeLand, Florida/Union Grove HS [Ga.]) came off the bench for 21 points, his second-straight 20-plus point effort. He added 12 boards and three assists, his third straight double-double this year.

Rookie Zyair Greene (Lithonia) chipped in 11 points off the bench as well, making all four of his free-throw attempts along the way. Freshman Luke Chism (Dawsonville) was a box-score filler, posting nine points, five rebounds, three steals, two assists and a block.

The Bobcats were out-shot 49% to 33% from the floor, including a blistering 61% for UNG from the three-point line. The benches were active today, as GC held a 43-22 advantage in points off the pine.

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Jan. 19 at 7:30 p.m., traveling to Young Harris College. GC will look for a series sweep, having beaten the Mountain Lions at home 89-65 in December.
