AUGUSTA, Ga. – The No. 21 Georgia College Men's Basketball team (10-2, 2-1 PBC) came up short in a ranked battle 73-52 Wednesday night at No. 12 Augusta University (11-1, 1-1 PBC).

A quick start to the second half busted open a tight contest, and the Jaguars looked every bit like the top ranked team in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC).

The Bobcats went toe-to-toe with Augusta in the early going, leading for a long stretch in the first half. A late Jaguar surge put GC down by five at 31-26 at the break. The Jaguars started the second frame on an 11-2 run and kept the pressure on from there.

Junior guard Wesley Simpson (DeLand, Florida/Union Grove HS [Ga.]) led the Bobcats with 17 points and six rebounds. Senior Jordan Thomas (Conyers) added 10 points to the cause, as Augusta tightened the defensive clamps on the GC all-time leading scorer. Graduate student Chapin Rierson (Calhoun) added eight off the bench.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Jan. 8 at 3:30 p.m., traveling to Georgia Southwestern State University.
