#21 Bobcat Men's Hoops Drops GSW, 74-60

AMERICUS, Ga. – The No. 21 Georgia College Men's Basketball team (11-2, 3-1 PBC) used a second-half surge to overcome Georgia Southwestern State University (4-7, 0-3 PBC) 74-60 Saturday on the road.

The Bobcats trailed as late as 13:17 left in the second half, but went on a hot streak there, going on a 17-5 run to take over the game.

Junior Christian Koneman (Chatsworth) set a career-high with 17 points, adding eight boards. The forward netted 14 after the halftime break to help power the come-from-behind win.

Classmate Wesley Simpson (DeLand, Florida/Union Grove HS [Ga.]) had an 11-point, 11-assist double-double, his first double-dip of the season. He nabbed six boards as well, flirting with a double-double. Senior Jordan Thomas (Conyers) added 14 points, Thomas kept his double-digit scoring streak alive, as he's done so in all 13 games this season.

The Bobcats out-rebounded GSW 36-30, and won points-in-the-paint 34-22. GC had a 21-8 point advantage in bench points, led by eight each from Chapin Rierson (Calhoun) and Chris Parks (Buford).

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.m., playing host to USC Aiken for GC Miracle Night.
