MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- Georgia College & State University Volleyball (10-11, 6-4 PBC) took down Young Harris College (3-20, 0-9 PBC), 3-1 on Friday night.

Setter Emily Long (Mooresville, North Carolina) was the lone senior celebrated for senior day and she had a superb match. Long had 26 assists and 17 digs for a senior night double-double. This was her 11th double-double this season.

The kill leaders in the contest for the Bobcats were Callie Miller (Allatoona) and Rachel Machovec (Buckhead) with 19 and eight kills respectively. Miller broke her single game high of 15 kills which she nabbed in the match against USC Aiken last Friday. There were also three Bobcats that added five kills apiece.

Brooke Roberts (Rome) was the highlight at the net for GCSU adding six blocks to her already impressive season total. She has tallied 99 so far this season which is good for the number five slot in school history for total blocks in a single season. Alanis Bernis (Auburn) was also a menace on defense for GCSU as she led the squad with 22 digs. She also added a team high of three service aces.

The Bobcats took the four set win over the Mountain Lions but not without some adversity. YHC got up early on the Bobcats in the second set of the contest scoring four straight opening points. The points went back and forth between the two squads when the Mountain Lions ended up ahead 17-12. GCSU scored their 13th set point which brought Bernis to the line to serve. Bernis went on a nine point serving run to give the Bobcats the 21-18 lead. They went on to win the set 25-19. The Bobcats took a close 25-22 third set loss then came out in the fourth set with a vengeance taking the final set 25-14.

Bobcat volleyball is back in action on the road for the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) and South Atlantic Conference (SAC) crossover tournament Friday, Oct. 21. The games are set in Jefferson, Tennessee with opponents and game times to be announced.
