HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Georgia College & State University Volleyball team (10-12) came up short in four sets at Lincoln Memorial University (8-16) Friday as part of the PBC (Peach Belt Conference)/SAC (South Atlantic Conference) Crossover.
LMU took the first set in a hard-fought 25-21 effort. The Bobcats evened it back out in set two with a 25-20 win. The Railsplitters took the final two, clinching the match 25-12 and 25-23. GCSU had a match-high 15 kills in the final set.
Graduate student Rachel Machovec (Buckhead, Georgia) had 14 kills and 13 digs for her sixth double-double this season. She was flanked by 10 kills from Brooke Roberts (Rome, Georgia), the sophomore's fifth double-digit kill effort this season.
Senior Emily Long (Mooresville, North Carolina) and freshman Riese Johnson (Cumming, Georgia) once again split setting duties, Long posting 17 assists to Johnson's 15. Machovec and freshman Alanis Bernis (Auburn, Georgia) shared the team lead with 13 digs.
The Bobcats are back in action with a doubleheader to close out the PBC/SAC Crossover tomorrow, Oct. 22. GCSU takes on Tusculum University at noon and finishes with Carson-Newman University at 2 p.m., all on the C-N campus in Jefferson City.
