GREENWOOD, S.C. – Senior setter Emily Long (Mooresville, North Carolina) picked up her 1,000th career assist but the Georgia College Volleyball team (10-16, 6-6 PBC) fell at Lander University (18-8, 9-4 PBC) in three sets Friday.
Lander swept the match 25-16, 25-10 and 25-18, holding the Bobcat offense in check.
Graduate student Rachel Machovec (Buckhead, Georgia) led with nine kills. Long finished with 14 assists, and now has 1,004 in her career at GCSU. Freshman Alanis Bernis (Auburn, Georgia) helped the defensive effort with a team-high 13 digs.
With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 6-6 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play, good for fourth in the league standings. GCSU has three conference matchups left, and has clinched at least the No. 4-seed in the upcoming PBC Tournament.
The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow, Oct. 29 at 4 p.m., playing host to Flagler College in the Centennial Center.
