Box Score ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Great pitching helped an early lead hold up for Georgia College Baseball (3-4) Saturday, winning 4-2 at Eckerd College (3-2). The victory brings the three game series even at 1-1.
Junior Davis Swenson (Toccoa, Georgia) was strong on the mound, going 5 2/3 innings with a pair of earned runs and nine strikeouts. He scattered four hits and three walks, moving to 1-0 on the season.
Lefty Aidan McAllister (Suwanee, Georgia) finished the sixth and spun the seventh hitless with a strikeout. Reigning Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Pitcher of the Week Luc Scudellari (Roswell, Georgia) then got the final six outs for his second save this season.
The Bobcats plated three runs in the first, taking advantage of two costly Triton errors. Catcher Sam Sly (Atlanta, Georgia) capped the scoring with an RBI single to right.
A two-run blast by Eckerd's Mitch Donofrio made it 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, but the relievers shut the door from there. Brandon Bellflower (Milledgeville, Georgia) drove in an insurance run with a pinch-hit single in the eighth.
Sly finished 2-for-4 with a double a run and the RBI. Rightfielder Paul Grazzini (Marietta, Georgia) also went 2-for-4, scoring once, while first baseman Mason Spivey (Appling, Georgia) scored once as part of a 2-for-5 game.
The Bobcats close the series at Eckerd tomorrow, Feb. 13 at noon.
