Box Score MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Junior Josh Hudgins (Dunwoody) spun a shutout, leading Georgia College Baseball (5-5) to a 6-0 victory over Davis & Elkins College (0-1) Saturday at John Kurtz Field.
Hudgins (1-1) spun nine innings with just four hits and one walk. The righty ace struck out 10 batters. He set down nine in a row at one point from the fourth through the sixth. He also retired the final six batters he faced. Hudgins records the first shutout for GC Baseball since Charlie Hecht (2018) blanked then-No. 5 Columbus State University April 27, 2018.
It took until the fourth for the bats to get going for GC. The Bobcats had back-to-back-to-back singles in the inning to get the first two runs. Leftfielder Baylin Moore (Albany) broke the scoreless tie with a single to left.
The Bobcats broke things open with a four-run seventh, getting a two-run singles each from second baseman Austin Holloway (Social Circle) and first baseman Mason Spivey (Appling).
Rightfielder Paul Grazzini (Marietta) finished 2-for-4 with a run, as neither team tallied an extra-base hit.
The Bobcats close the series with Davis & Elkins tomorrow, Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. in a doubleheader.
