Bobcat Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader, Series from Davis & Elkins, 10-3 and 6-1

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Baseball team (7-5) got two more strong pitching outings en route to a doubleheader sweep of Davis & Elkins College (0-3) 10-3 and 6-1 Saturday at John Kurtz Field.

Game one featured plenty of strikeouts for sophomore righty Davis Swenson (Toccoa). He finished with 11 whiffs in seven innings, scattering the five hits for three runs. Swenson (2-0) fanned six Senator batters in a row at one point, finishing with six innings in the seven-inning contest.

The Bobcats jumped in front with a seven-run first, sending 11 hitters to the plate, and cruised from there.

Second baseman Ben Tuten (Bristol) had a 2-for-3 day, driving in three and scoring one. Senior Austin Holloway (Social Circle) and centerfielder Cam Hill (Marietta) each went 2-for-3, Holloway scoring once and Hill driving in a pair on a double in the first.

Game two was locked down by junior righty Brennan Crooms (Metter). Outside of a mistake knocked for a solo home run in the second by Wesley Aythe – the Senator rightfielder's second of the day – Crooms (1-1) kept the Senators scoreless. The Bobcat junior spun all seven innings for the complete game, scattering five hits for the one run, walking just one and striking out seven.

The Bobcats got one in the first and two more in the second to take an early advantage. Another RBI double from Hill in the fourth made it 4-1, and Brandon Bellflower (Milledgeville) added a run-scoring triple in the sixth to push it further out of reach.

Hill went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in game two, flanked by a 2-for-4 effort from Holloway, giving GC four hits out of the first two spots in the order. The designated hitter Bellflower did just that, finishing 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs.

The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 3 p.m., traveling to Lexington County, South Carolina to face No. 25 University of Mount Olive.
