ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Georgia College Men's Basketball team (20-6, 12-5 PBC) controlled play for the majority of the contest Wednesday night, but a late surge from No. 21 Flagler College (21-5, 14-3 PBC) sent the Bobcats home with a loss, 74-70.

GC had the lead as late as the 5:54 mark, at 62-61. That was early in a 12-3 run for the Saints that saw them stretch out as much as a five-point lead with 80 seconds left. The Bobcats had a couple of chances to tie it late, but couldn't get the clutch shot to complete the upset.

Senior Jordan Thomas (Conyers, Georgia) led the Bobcats with 18 points, his 24th double-digit scoring game this season. He added four assists. Junior Wesley Simpson (DeLand, Fla./Union Grove HS [Ga.]), supplied 15 points, six rebounds and three helps. Sophomore Brandon Thomas (McDonough, Georgia) posted 11 points, his second-straight double-digit scoring game.

The Bobcats were out-shot 52% to 41% from the field. GC made up for that by nearly doubling the Saints in threes made at 11-6, and out-rebounding Flagler 36-26.

In the game, Simpson eclipsed the 900-point mark for his career. His third and final assist of the game gave the guard 281 in his career, tying him with Isaac Thomas (2019) for 10th in school history.

The loss puts GC at 12-5 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play, good for third in the league standings. The Bobcats have locked in the No. 3-seed in the upcoming PBC Tournament, starting March 1.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Feb. 26 at 5:30 p.m., hosting Columbus State University. The game will serve as the final regular-season contest, Homecoming and Senior Day for the Bobcats.
