Box Score NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Georgia College Baseball team (2-3) fell victim to a big inning in the 9-3 loss at undefeated Newberry College (4-0) Wednesday. The Wolves plated six in the fifth inning to pull away.
Entering the bottom of the fifth tied up at 3-3, Newberry surged with six runs, taking advantage of a pair of costly Bobcat errors. It would be all the Wolves would need as both offenses silenced from that point on.
Second baseman Dominic Arienzo (Madison, Georgia) was a sparkplug for the offense, recording all three RBIs for the Bobcats. He doubled in a run in the third, and added a two-run single in the fourth. Arienzo finished 3-for-4 contributing half of the Bobcat hits on the day.
Freshman lefty Mason Brown (Lilburn, Georgia) took the loss in relief, allowing a pair over his inning of work.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Feb. 11 at 6 p.m., traveling to Eckerd College to start a three-game set.
