MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – A fourth-inning home run was just enough as the Georgia College Softball team (8-14, 0-4 PBC) fell to Young Harris College (9-9, 2-2 PBC) 2-1 Saturday at the Peeler Complex.

GC's Macy Banks (Homer) and Young Harris' Jill Dixon went head-to-head with a pair of complete games. Banks (3-6) scattered four hits and six walks for just a pair of runs over her seven innings. She struck out four. Dixon (4-4) picked up the win with an impressive 11 strikeouts, allowing a single unearned run on six hits and three walks.

Banks tried to help her own cause, going 2-for-3 with a pair of singles. Centerfielder MacKenzie Hoffman (Rocky Face) also had two singles in three trips. Tied 1-1 into the fourth, Shea Bayreuther provided a solo shot to put her team up. The Bobcats put the game-tying runner in scoring position in three of the final four trips to the plate, but couldn't get the clutch hit to tie the game.

The series with the Mountain Lions will still be on the line as the two teams square off in a doubleheader tomorrow, March 13 starting at 1 p.m.
