AMERICUS, Ga. – The Georgia College Softball team (9-19, 1-7 PBC) ran into a pitching juggernaut Saturday at Georgia Southwestern State University (17-11, 4-1 PBC) dropping both ends of a doubleheader 5-0 and 8-0.
In game one, the Bobcats managed three hits off Trinity Whitfield (4-3) who picked up the shutout. Bobcat starter Golden Thrower (Hanahan, South Carolina) had the hard-luck loss, despite surrendering just a single earned run over her four innings. The Bobcats got a runner in scoring position in the seventh, but couldn't find the clutch hit to end the shutout.
In game two, GSW starter Hannah Holloway (9-2) threw a no-hitter, allowing just a single walk and one Hurricane error over the five innings, shortened by run-rule. Starter Kaitlyn Anders (Makanda, Illinois) couldn't escape the first inning in the loss (0-1).
The two teams close the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) series with a single contest tomorrow, March 20 at noon.
