GREENVILLE, S.C.- The Georgia College Softball Team (8-11, 0-1 PBC) fell to Lander University (17-3, 1-0 PBC) on the road Friday, 3-1.
The Bobcats took a tough Lander squad to the limit, and were tied 1-1 as late as the sixth.
The Bobcat offense only had one player with more than one hit in MacKenzie Hoffman (Rocky Face, Georgia) who went 2-for-3. Hoffman added a stolen base to her boxscore putting herself in scoring position and ultimately crossing the plate on an infield single by Divina Checo (Marietta, Georgia). The Bobcats scored one run on five hits with Hoffman and Checo accounting for more than half of the hits.
Macy Banks (Homer, Georgia) got the start and the loss (3-4) in the circle for the Bobcats. She gave up three earned runs on seven hits, all three of the Bearcat runs coming on two home runs, with three strikeouts.
