No Foolin': Spivey, Bobcat Baseball Walks Off Flagler, 6-5

Box Score

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – A three-run ninth-inning rally helped Georgia College Baseball (18-12, 7-6 PBC) walk off Flagler College (16-16, 9-4 PBC) 6-5 Friday night at John Kurtz Field.

Senior KC Brown (Savannah) ripped a two-run home run to tie the game in the Bobcats' final at-bat, and sophomore Mason Spivey (Appling) tagged a single to right, with Ben Tuten (Bristol) narrowly-avoiding a tag at the plate to win the game.

With a 1-1 score at the end of two innings, Flagler took the lead with a run in the fourth, and added a three-run cushion in the seventh for a 5-1 advantage. Senior Sam Sly (Atlanta) singled home a pair in the eighth to cut into the lead, setting up the ninth-inning heroics.

Cam Hill (Marietta) led off the ninth with a single, followed by the Brown home run to tie the game. After an out, Tuten was hit by a pitch, and a walk shoved him over to second. Spivey then ripped the first pitch he saw to right to score Tuten and win the game.

Sly finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Sophomore Brandon Bellflower (Milledgeville) was also 3-for-4, scoring twice. Spivey was 2-for-5 with the lone RBI, and senior Paul Grazzini (Marietta) also went 2-for-5. Brown has home runs in back-to-back games, and now owns five bombs this season.

Lefty Bryce Bowen (Bowman) got the win in relief. Bowen (1-1) threw a scoreless top of the ninth, allowing just a single hit and fanning one.

The Bobcats and Saints finish the three-game Peach Belt Conference (PBC) series with a doubleheader tomorrow, April 2 at 1 p.m.
