Bobcat Softball Drops Two at #16 UNG to Close Out Series

DAHLONEGA, Ga.- The Georgia College Softball Team (11-24, 3-12PBC) took a 9-2 and 9-1 loss at No. 16 University of North Georgia (34-11, 16-2 PBC) Sunday. 

The hot bat of Shea Zweifel (Ormond Beach, Florida) came alive in the early parts of the first contest as she rifled a two run homer over the left field wall to put the Bobcats up early over the Nighthawks. MacKenzie Hoffman (Rocky Face) followed the home run with a single up the middle and a stolen base for her 10th of the season. 

The bottom of the third inning was a big one for the Nighthawks as they plated seven runs to put them up 7-2. 

Montana Ledbetter (Hanna City, Illinois) got the start and the loss in the circle for the Bobcats. Ledbetter (5-5) allowed six earned runs on five hits with two strikeouts in her 2 1/3 innings of work. Golden Thrower (Hanahan, South Carolina) was sharp in relief, closing the contest with one run on four hits over three innings.  

North Georgia took the early 8-0 lead in the first two innings of the second game of the doubleheader. The Bobcats scored their lone run in the top of the third inning as Katelyn Hobbs (Thomasville) came across to score on a wild pitch. Hoffman and Ashley Schell (Cumming) had the only hits for the Bobcats with a single each. 

Thrower (2-7) got the start and the loss in the circle for the Bobcats in game two, allowing four earned runs on four hits. 

The Bobcats are back in action Friday, April 15 at the Peeler Complex to take on Flagler College. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. with live stats and video links available at GCBobcats.com.
