VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Georgia College Baseball team (21-15) nearly upset No. 29 Valdosta State University (23-10) on the road Tuesday, leading 3-0 into the ninth, but falling 4-3.

The game was scoreless until the fifth, when defending Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Freshman David Julian (Dunwoody) drove in a run with a bunt single. The Bobcats plated another on a double-play ball and their third run on a Blazer error.

GC kept the Blazers scoreless until the bottom of the ninth. The Blazers rallied with a solo home run, a two-run single and a walk-off double, and when the dust settled, Georgia College lost 4-3.

The Bobcats had nine team hits, with two multi-hit performers. Julian finished 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI, while catcher Sam Sly (Atlanta) was 2-for-3 with a run.

GC used five pitchers to keep the Blazers scoreless for the first eight innings. Starter Aidan McConnell (Roswell) went one, followed by lefty Reid Robertson (Marietta) for three innings with a strikeout. Lefty Bryce Bowen (Bowman) got two outs in the fifth, while freshman lefty Mason Brown (Lilburn) finished that inning and spun two more scoreless. Righty Josh Patterson (Bluffton, South Carolina) had a scoreless eighth. Lefty Luc Scudellari (Roswell) took the loss, falling to 2-1 on the year.
