MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- The Georgia College Softball Team (11-26, 3-14 PBC) took a game one 8-2 and a game two 8-5 loss from Flagler College (23-19, 8-9 PBC) Saturday at the Peeler Complex.
The Bobcats had seven knocks in the first contest of the doubleheader with the Saints. Both squads were quiet through two innings then the Bobcats plated the first run of the contest. Sydney Newberry (Springfield) reached base via an error, eventually scoring on a groundout. The Bobcat offense struck again in the bottom of the fourth, scoring their final run of the contest on a solo moonshot from Shea Zweifel (Ormond Beach, Florida), the junior's fourth this season. The Bobcats had speed on the basepaths with MacKenzie Hoffman (Rocky Face) and Eliza Kuhne (Sharpsburg) picking up two stolen bases each.
Montana Ledbetter (Hanna City, Illinois) got the start and the loss in the circle for GC. Ledbetter allowed three earned runs on four hits in 3 ⅓ of work with three strikeouts.
Game two of the contest was an offensive showing for both as there were 27 hits between both squads. The Bobcats plated five runs on 14 hits in seven innings. GC scored its first run as Carlie Behan (Cumming) came around to score on the single to center field by Kuhne. GC then scored two more runs in the next two innings with Behan knocking a triple to score Newberry. Behan then came across to score on a single by Katelyn Hobbs (Thomasville). The final two runs for the Bobcats came in the fifth inning on a single from Behan and a sacrifice fly from Hobbs.
Brayden Latimer (Milledgeville) got the start in the circle for the Bobcats going 4 1/3 innings. Latimer allowed two earned runs on six hits. Ledbetter (5-7) entered in the fifth and picked up another loss in the circle, going 1 1/3 innings.
