Box Score
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- The Georgia College Softball Team (11-27, 3-15 PBC) fell 6-5 to Flagler College (24-19, 9-9 PBC) Saturday, wrapping up a Peach Belt Conference (PBC) series at the Peeler Complex.
The Bobcat offense came alive in the bottom of the fifth, plating all five of their runs. GC trailed by five going into that fifth inning then the bats came alive and tied it up. GC started that inning with back to back singles and a walk to load the bases for freshman Eliza Kuhne (Sharpsburg) who knocked a two-run single to leftfield.
Kuhne landed on third base after a few throws and was able to come across on an RBI infield single from MacKenzie Hoffman (Rocky Face). Both Kuhne and Hoffman hit for .500 in the contest. Another single added a Bobcat baserunner for designated player Shea Zweifel (Ormond Beach, Florida). Zweifel cleared the bases with a triple to the rightfield corner to add two RBIs as she now leads the team with 17 on the season. The game remained tied into the top of the seventh, when a Flagler home run from Melissa Velez gave her team the lead. GC was unable to rally in the bottom of the seventh.
Golden Thrower (Hanahan, South Carolina) took the hard-luck loss in relief. Thrower (2-8) provided a strong relief effort to open things for the comeback, posting one of her best outings of the season. She went six innings with just a single earned run on five hits.
The Bobcats are back in action on the road at Columbus State University Friday, April 22. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. with live stats and video links available at GCBobcats.com.
