Box Score 2 MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- The Georgia College Softball Team (13-32, 4-20 PBC) took a 4-3 and an 8-5 loss in a doubleheader against Augusta University (16-28, 5-19 PBC), Saturday at the Peeler Complex.
During the first contest, the Bobcats were able to plate three runs on five hits all coming from different hitters. Divina Checo (Marietta) led the charge, going 1-for-3 with a two-RBI double and a walk. Shea Zweifel (Ormond Beach, Florida) drove in the other Bobcat run, going 1-for-2 with a run-scoring single and a walk. She also came around to score on the Checo double to the left center field wall.
Golden Thrower (Hanahan, South Carolina) got the start and the loss in the circle for GC. Thrower (2-10) threw her first complete game of the season, allowing four earned runs on nine hits with two strikeouts.
The Bobcat bats came alive in game two despite the loss, scoring five runs on 10 hits. Checo led the offense yet again, hitting 3-for-4 with yet another double and two RBI. The lone senior Carlie Behan (Cumming) went 2-for-3 to help lead the offense with a two-base knock to her boxscore. Jessica Owens (Social Circle) had the third RBI of the contest on a single to center field.
Montana Ledbetter (Hanna City, Illinois) took the loss in relief. Ledbetter (6-9) entered in the third and threw four innings, allowing five runs and striking out four.
This series brought an end to the Bobcat Softball season as they will start a brand new season in the spring of 2023. GC Softball loses just a single senior from the roster in Behan.
