DAHLONEGA, Ga.- The Georgia College Softball Team (11-22, 3-10 PBC) fell 9-1 against Peach Belt Conference (PBC) leader and national No. 16 University of North Georgia (32-11, 14-2 PBC) in game one of their three-game PBC series Saturday night.
The Bobcat offense had four hits in the six-inning contest bringing across one run. MacKenzie Hoffman (Rocky Face) and Jessica Owens (Social Circle) started off the game with a base knock apiece. Katelyn Hobbs (Thomasville) reached base via the free pass and was thrown out on the fielder's choice to put Sydney Newberry (Springfield) on. Newberry came across to score on a double to left-center off the bat of Carlie Behan (Cumming). The Bobcats had one hit the rest of the contest, coming in the fourth inning on a single from Hobbs.
GC's Macy Banks (Homer) got the start and the loss. Banks (4-9) allowed five earned runs in her 2 ⅔ innings of work.
The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow, April 10 to finish up the series with North Georgia in doubleheader fashion. First pitch is set for noon with live stats and video links available at GCBobcats.com.
