BLUFFTON, S.C.- Georgia College & State University Soccer (3-3-1, 2-0 PBC) made a two-goal second-half comeback to hand USC Beaufort (5-1, 1-1 PBC) their first loss of the season, Wednesday.
GCSU was not happy with the halftime score so the Bobcat offense came out hot as Morgan Amrozowicz (Dacula, Georgia) broke a five-game scoreless streak for the USCB keeper. Alexis Bergamini (West Suffield, Connecticut) got the assist as she passed to Amrozowicz in the midfield and she was able to push towards the box to get the shot off at the 18-yard box. Ava Martin (Gainesville, Georgia) nailed the game-winner on the assist from Sarah Mason (Atlanta, Georgia). Mason secured the ball near the corner flag and crossed it to Martin who hammered in an upper 90 goal.
The Bobcats were able to get off 17 shots through 90 minutes. Despite not having a goal, Bergamini led the offense, rifling off five shots. Martin was able to get off three for the second on the squad with Mason and Amrozowicz launching two a piece.
The Bobcat defense had an impressive performance on the afternoon, only allowing nine shots. They were able to close the gaps amongst the Sand Shark's forwards to only allow two shots on goal.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Sept. 17 at Bobcat Field to take on Georgia Southwestern State University (3-2-1, 0-1 PBC) to continue conference play. Kick off is set for 4 p.m. with live stats and broadcast links available at GCBobcats.com
