AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Georgia College & State University Volleyball team (6-8, 3-1 PBC) dropped its first Peach Belt Conference (PBC) match of the year to 2021 NCAA Southeast Region Champ Augusta University (10-4, 2-1 PBC) on the road Tuesday.
Things started out great for the Bobcats as they swiped the first two sets, 27-25 and 25-22. The Jaguars rebounded with 25-23, 25-17 and 15-11 scores to complete the comeback.
The Bobcats pulled the final set even at 6-6 on a kill by Ally Hall (Cumming), but Augusta took six of the next seven points to streak ahead.
Hall blasted 21 kills on the day, just one from her career high. She added 20 digs for her second-straight double-double.
Sophomore Brooke Roberts (Rome) added 11 kills with nine total blocks. Junior Callie Miller (Acworth) contributed 10 kills to the cause. Senior setter Emily Long (Mooresville, North Carolina) tallied 24 assists, sharing duties with freshman Riese Johnson (Cumming) who picked up 19.
Long posted 20 digs as well, one of four with double-digits. Freshman Alanis Bernis (Auburn) had 32 to lead the way, Hall and Long added 20 apiece and graduate student Rachel Machovec (Buckhead) chipped in 26.
The Bobcats are back in action Thursday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m., playing host to Lander University.
