Bobcat Men's Hoops Dominates at Clayton State, 78-62 for Second Conference Win

MORROW, Ga.- Georgia College & State University Men's Basketball (6-11, 2-6 PBC) picked up the second conference win of the season after a powerful performance over Clayton State University (2-15, 0-7 PBC), 78-62. 

CSU picked up the first lead of the contest after a jump shot and free-throw. Brendan Rigsbee (Suwanee) tied the game after a two-point bucket and a free throw. Brandon Thomas (McDonough) gave the Bobcats their first lead of the contest after a two-point jump shot. For the remainder of the first half, GCSU continued to build the lead as they entered the half up 42-30. 

After the half Georgia College came out of the half and banked 36 points starting with a field goal from Rigsbee. The Lakers cut the lead to 10 points at around the 10-minute mark of the second half but the Bobcats kept the hot hands and took the 78-62 win. 

GCSU scored an impressive 78 points in the contest in great part to the four double-digit scorers. Rigsbee surpassed his career high of 23 points by icing an impressive 25 points in the contest as he went 11-for-17 from field-goal range. Rigsbee had a double-double on the night as he added 10 rebounds to his boxscore. Ian Davis (Lawrenceville) also set a new career high as he banked 15 points as the squads second-leading scorer. Davis picked up his first start of the season and went 7-for-11. Zyair Greene (Lithonia) stays hot picking up another start knocking down 13 points as he went 4-for-9 from field goal range and 3-for-3 from the free-throw line. Thomas rounded out the double-digit scoring with 12 points going 5-for-8 from the field-goal range with an impressive 50% from behind the arc. 

The big post Austin Sloan (Warner Robins) was the team's second-leading rebounder as he corralled seven with six being defensive. Thomas was the third leading rebounder adding five to his boxscore. The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Jan. 25 in the Centennial Center for Faculty Appreciation Night. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. with live stats and broadcast links available at GCBobcats.com
