Bobcats cap off season with four set battle against FC

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.- Georgia College & State University Volleyball concluded the 2023 season with a four set rally with Flagler College in the first round of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament. 

GCSU finished with a 14-17 and 1-11 in conference record while FC improved to 8-18 and 4-8 in the conference. The Saints will play in the second round of the tournament against the first seeded Augusta University. 

Rachel Machovec capped off her career with an outstanding performance leading the team with 15 kills on the evening. Camryn Carlton nabbed her career high in kills also putting up 15. Callie Miller finished her career as the teams third kill leader with five. Riese Johnson led the setting effort picking up 41 of the 43 team assists. 

The Bobcat defense had a dig or die mentality picking up 60 digs and four players in the double digits. Machovec led the effort with 14 good for her 18th double-double of the season. Johnson had the second most with 12. Kyeli Hazzard and Miller rounded out double digit digs with 10 each. GCSU had eight block assists and two solo blocks in the match. Mary Kate Kotzin led the blocking effort with three block assists and a solo block. Brooke Roberts had the other solo block while Johnson and Carlton had two block assists each.
