Season comes to a close in Peach Belt quarterfinals

COLUMBUS, Ga. | Emma Beddow scored twice to lead Columbus State University past Georgia College & State University 5-2 in the quarterfinals of the Peach Belt Conference Women's Soccer Tournament Monday (Nov. 6) evening at the Waldon Soccer Complex.

The No. 2 seeded Cougars improved to 11-4-1 and advances to Friday's (Nov. 10) semifinal round, while the No. 7 seeded Bobcats ended their season at 8-8-2. 

Columbus State opened the scoring 99 seconds into the match as Brooke Ouimette scored, but Aralyn Everett scored her third goal of the season for GCSU to level the match a 1 10 minutes later. Katherine Crouse assisted on the strike.

Anna Gray scored in the 19th minute to give the Cougars a 2-1 lead. Beddow scored the next CSU goals to put the Cougars up 4-1 five minutes into the second half.

Everett assisted on the final Bobcat goal with 2:34 remaining in match. She fed a ball to Zelia Griffith, who knocked it in for her third goal of 2023.

Columbus State outshot Georgia College 23-11, but the Cougars only enjoyed a 10-7 margin on goal. Madison Drake (3) and Kassidy Fortin (2) combined for five stops in the GCSU goal.
