Box Score AMERICUS, Ga. – Despite four double-digit scorers, the Georgia College & State University Men's Basketball team (7-16, 3-11 PBC) fell at Georgia Southwestern State University (12-11, 5-9 PBC) Saturday, falling 85-76.
The Bobcats scored the first three points of the game off a long-range shot from Brandon Thomas (McDonough). The Hurricanes responded well from there, going on a 14-3 run to get a comfortable advantage.
GCSU was led by 16 points from freshman guard Brendan Rigsbee (Suwanee). He hit all five of his free-throws and went 5-for-9 from the field. Senior forward Christian Koneman (Chatsworth) came off the bench for a crucial 15 points, including a trio of three pointers. He also had five boards to lead the squad.
Junior point guard Richard Crawford III (Evans) had 12 points, while freshman backcourt mate Ian Davis (Lawrenceville) had 10.
The loss puts the Bobcats at 3-11 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play, positioned ninth. GCSU is two games out of the eighth spot with three games left on the schedule. The top eight advance to the PBC Tournament beginning March 2.
The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m., traveling to Lander University.
