COLUMBUS, Ga.- Georgia College & State University Men's Basketball (9-18, 5-13 PBC) took a tough final second loss to Columbus State University (15-13, 8-10 PBC) to end the season.
The Bobcats struck first on a layup by AJ James (Bowman). The two squads would trade buckets back and forth through the first 20 minutes with GCSU leading 33-28 going into the half. Austin Sloan (Warner Robins) scored the first basket of the second half. The Cougars would go on to outscore the Bobcats 39-32 in the second half. CSU would win the game on a last-second lay-up to get the 67-65 win.
Ian Davis (Lawrenceville) led the scoring with an impressive 16 points. He went 5-for-7 from the floor including 4-for-5 from behind the arc. Sloan was the squad's second-leading scorer with 14 points. He went 5-for-9 from field goal range including two three-point buckets. Brendan Rigsbee (Suwanee) added to the double-digit scoring with 11 points on the afternoon as he banked five field goals. Chapin Rierson (Calhoun) rounded out the double-digit scoring with 10 points knocking down four baskets from the floor.
Rigsbee led the charge nabbing a double-double with 10 rebounds to lead the team.
This concludes the 2022-23 season for GCSU Men's Basketball.
