MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- Georgia College & State University (6-11, 4-3 PBC) hung an 11 spot on USC Beaufort (10-11, 4-6 PBC) to pick up the first win of the season at John Kurtz Field.
Bobcat catcher Trevor Knowles (Folkston) knocked in the first run of the game for GCSU on an RBI single up the middle.
Georgia College busted the game wide open in the game in the fourth inning driving in five runs. Baylin Moore (Albany) kicked off the scoring with two RBI single to center field. Knowles picked up his second RBI of the day on another single up the middle. Gabriel Weurth (Woodstock) forced a Sandshark error to bring two more GCSU runs around to give the Bobcats the 6-0 lead to cap off the fourth inning.
Mason Spivey (Appling) drove in the lone run of the fifth inning on a dinger over the right field fence.
Moore showed off the hot bat again on an RBI single to the right side. Ben Tuten (Bristol) nabbed his first knock of the game driving a single up the middle for the ninth run of the game for GCSU. Spivey nabbed another RBI on the day on a fielder's choice. Brandon Bellflower (Milledgeville) ended the game in the bottom of the eighth inning on a sacrifice fly to solidify the run-rule victory.
Josh Hudgins (Dunwoody) picked up the start and the win on the mound for the Bobcats. Hudgins (2-1) maintained his ERA of zero pitching six scoreless innings with six strikeouts.
The Bobcats will finish out the series with the Sandsharsk Saturday, Mar. 11 in doubleheader fashion at the Kurtz starting at 1:00 p.m. Live stats and broadcast links will be available at GCBobcats.com.
