AIKEN, S.C.- Georgia College & State University Softball (10-19, 6-6 PBC) took a tough 5-1 loss in the final game against USC Aiken (12-18, 6-6 PBC), Sunday afternoon.
GCSU only plated a single run which came in the first inning. Jessica Owens (Social Circle, Georgia) knocked the run in on a ground out to the second baseman.
Owens had the lone RBI of the game on a 1-for-3 effort and a walk. Kam Caldwell (Athens, Georgia) was the only run to come across for GCSU in her 1-for-4 day.
Jana Shellhorse (McDonough, Georgia) got the start in the circle for the Bobcats. Shellhorse (7-5) got the loss with three earned runs coming around to score on six hits in her five and two-thirds innings of work. She also nabbed five strikeouts on the day.
Georgia College will return to action Saturday, Mar. 25 in doubleheader fashion to take on Lander University for alumni weekend at the Peeler Complex. The first game is set for 2:00 p.m. with live stats and broadcast links available at GCBobcats.com.
