MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College & State University Baseball team (11-12, 9-3 PBC) completed a series sweep of Augusta University (11-13, 5-9 PBC) with a 5-1 victory Sunday at John Kurtz Field.

Today's victory combined with a 4-1 and 17-0 sweep of yesterday's doubleheader gives the Bobcats wins in three of their four Peach Belt Conference (PBC) series this season.

Freshmen Lex Kenny (Canton) and John Raines (Powder Springs) combined to hold the Jaguars in check, allowing just a single unearned run over nine innings of work. The two combined for five hits and five walks with six strikeouts.

Kenny (1-1) threw the first six frames, allowing the unearned run in the first with three singles, three walks and three strikeouts. Raines took the final three innings, adding two hits two walks and three whiffs for his fourth save.

The Jaguars took a lead in the top of the first on a Bobcat error, but GCSU responded with a run on three walks and a wild pitch. Rightfielder Brandon Bellflower (Milledgeville) gave the Bobcats a lead with an RBI single in the fourth, then two more runs came in on a wild pitch and throwing error on the same play. Centerfielder Evan Cowan (Richmond Hill) capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the sixth.

Cowan finished the day 2-for-3 with the RBI and a run scored, adding a stolen base to set up Bellflower's single in the first.

GCSU Baseball has now won 13 straight over Augusta.

The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday, March 21 at 4 p.m., hosting Southern Wesleyan University.
