Box Score MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – A six-run first inning set the tone for the game as Georgia College & State University Baseball (12-12) beat Southern Wesleyan University (11-16) 15-1 Tuesday at John Kurtz Field.
The Bobcats got some help and a long fly in the six-run first. A bases-loaded hit batsman followed by a walk scored the first two runs. After a groundout plated run three, catcher Trey Ham (Perry) blasted the first home run of his Bobcat career to left, a three-run shot.
GCSU continued to pour it on, scoring in every inning except the eighth.
Righty starter Davis Swenson (Toccoa) was dominant, spinning 6 1/3 innings with just five hits and two walks for a single run. Swenson (2-6) struck out seven Warrior batters on the day and allowed just a single extra-base hit. Relievers John Luke Glanton (Metter) and Hunter Goodwin (Sylvester) went 1 2/3 and one inning, respectively.
Designated hitter Baylin Moore (Albany) was 3-for-5 with a triple, scoring three runs and driving in two. Shortstop Dominic Arienzo (Madison) added four hits in five trips, including a double and two RBIs.
Third baseman Ben Tuten (Bristol) added a 2-for-5 effort, a double, two RBIs and a run. Ham's lone hit was the home run, but he finished with four RBIs and a pair of runs scored.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, March 24 at 6 p.m., traveling to Georgia Southwestern State University.
