YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Georgia College & State University Baseball team (3-11, 3-3 PBC) played a complete game with strong pitching and hitting Sunday, topping No. 25 Young Harris College (13-6, 6-3 PBC) 7-2 on the road.
The Bobcats scored in five different innings, but took the lead for good with a pair in the third. Designated hitter Baylin Moore (Albany) ripped a solo shot for the first Bobcat run of the game, and leftfielder Matthew Chester (Evans) singled home a run later in the inning.
The game featured an outstanding start from senior lefty Luc Scudellari (Roswell). He threw seven innings with just a single earned run on five hits and three walks. Scudellari (1-1) fanned seven Mountain Lion batters before turning the game over to Trey Felt (Lawrenceville) for a pair of hitless innings and three whiffs.
Catcher Trey Ham (Perry) exploded for a 3-for-3 game, ripping a double, scoring twice and driving in one more. Chester finished 2-for-5 with two RBI, twice plating Ham. Moore was 2-for-3 with two runs. The home run was his second this season and seventh in his career.
First baseman Jaxon Weatherford (Charleston, South Carolina) made the most of his lone hit, tagging a solo home run in the sixth, the first of his Bobcat career. Second baseman Palmer Sapp (Dawsonville) had a pair of singles and a run scored, as the Bobcats out-hit YHC 12-5.
The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday, March 7 at 5 p.m., traveling to No. 29 Valdosta State University.
